What could you do with $30 million?

Hands up who said “a whole lot!”  Well, that’s the spirit!  That’s what we thought you would say.

The point of this exercise is to get you to imagine how it could change your world and to challenge you to think big, because thinking big is a common trait among the successful.

Here are a couple of home truths when it comes to thinking big: 

1. Think small and you certainly will be

It is true that business owners can get bogged down in the day-to-day small stuff.  So, every so often, it’s worthwhile to sit up and think about where you are on the journey.  Ask yourself these vital questions:

• Is your inbox full?
• Are your meetings focussed on operations?
• Do you feel like you’re constantly doing it, doing it, doing it?
• Do you feel like you aren’t in control of the business, the business is in control of you?

If you answered yes to one or all of these questions you’ll be too busy to recognise good opportunities and you may be trapped by your thinking.  How do you break that mould?

2. Think big and you may be

A good way to break out of the mindset is to ask yourself the big questions such as “what could I do with $30 million?” 

Now we’re not saying that every business can expect to attract $30 million in debt and/or equity funding nor may it be necessary to achieve what is possible.  We’re simply suggesting you start to open your mind to the possibilities and to recognise the limitations you’re placing on yourself.  Once you’ve taken that step, it becomes possible to plan to overcome some of the challenges that stand in your way.
