Fortune Favours the Brave – Why?

So said someone a long time ago. Google tells us that this phrase means:

those who act decisively make their own fate

What do you think about that?

It’s something I’ve been thinking about quite a bit lately and I think it’s bang on.

You see, the world is changing around us at such a huge pace and we are all growing older (thankfully only day-by-day) so I ask, if not now, then when? Due deference to Tracy Chapman.

My point is that change is here, change is real and change is opportunity. The way I see it, you’re either going to let it happen to you, despite your protests, or you’re going to take it by the scruff of the neck and have a go.

So, if I said to you “You need to take more risk”, you might look at me a little strangely and wonder if I’ve gone quite mad. I haven’t.

I am simply suggesting that I have spotted a trend among the more successful small businesses we deal with. They have laser focus on what they want to achieve, they are moving more quickly than their peers, they embrace change and they take calculated risk.

My message to you is this – get that focus and get moving. Back yourself. Make your own fate.
