The 2021 Winners of the BridgePoint Group Innovation Awards are GemKom, Andi Health and Pablo & Rusty Coffee Roasters
With an unusually high standard of entries, the judges had their work cut out for them this year. Determining the winners of BridgePoint Group 2021 Innovation Award was a close call.
We are proud to announce the following winners of the 2021 BridgePoint Group Innovation Awards. They are:
Best Innovation from a Start- Up: GemKom
Best Innovation from a Small Business: Andi Health
Best Innovation from an Established Business: Pablo & Rusty’s Coffee Roasters
Let’s have a quick look at each of the winners and what made them stand out from the 2021 Innovation Award entrants.
GemKom is an agri-tech business that is changing the traditional farming model. They have developed methods to use the latest technologies to develop high-margin crops in a Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). Without any human or environmental interference, the team at GemKom can develop crop strains with higher yield and more resilience against disease. GemKom has a purpose-built cultivation facility and a scientifically-developed cultivation strategy which will allow lab-to-land production at a much quicker rate than traditional crop development methods. Energy innovation is a core pillar of all that GemKom do as well. Knowing that the Australian cannabis industry ($258m) is in a high growth phase, GemKom developed a cannabinoid which will be produced at a pharmaceutical level to treat a variety of ailments.
BridgePoint Group congratulates GemKom and is proud to be able to work with a company that is looking to improve the health of Australians and develop sustainable agri-economies and cultivation practises.
Continuing along the health theme is the winner of Best Innovation from a Small Business, Andi Health.
Andi Health is a health company which is challenging the “reactive” health paradigm with a proactive, preventative, self-directed approach. “We want to make proactive health care the new norm as we believe prevention is a lot better than cure” says founder Luke Grana. Luke and the Andi Health team have developed a business (& App) that allows consumers to take control of their health, using their own data and personalised, professional help. The data comprises activity, sleep and body measures and indicators that show where each person’s health focus should be. Every person has access to real-life health experts known as Andi Health Guides. All guides are fully certified and offer support. Basically, users are empowered to translate their health data into tangible health results. Your data is collected via an activity tracker, blood pressure monitor and smart scales. This data is collated via the Andi Health app.
We applaud the Andi Health team and its innovative approach to making prevention the best cure!
It’s no secret Australians have a healthy love for coffee. So it is fitting that the winner of Best Innovation from an Established Business is Pablo & Rusty’s Coffee Roasters who have shown innovation in the way consumers can get their taste buds around delicious coffee.
At Pablo & Rusty’s Coffee Roasting it is not just coffee roasting. They’ve created a successful product extension to a well-established category and innovated new ways of producing and serving coffee. Using a nitrogen production method has allowed them to create a delicious cold drink which is lower in calories. The use of inert nitrogen gas produces a creaminess on the palette without the addition of milk and is served chilled over ice or straight from the can or keg cold. Cold brewing, flash brewing and these novel serving innovations are central to their success. Coffee in a can (like soft-drinks or beer) and poured from kegs as you would a beer in a bar, is not something anyone else had thought of before Pablo and Rusty manifested them. Their novel production methods and distribution has certainly changed the way people consume coffee and they have created a profitable new product category. The Pablo & Rusty team spent a lot of time and energy researching and trialling this innovation. They have found a way to make coffee a cool summer drink alternative.
As lovers of coffee, BridgePoint Group heartily congratulates Pablo & Rusty for taking out the Best Innovation from an Established Business award for 2021.
